Making Your Patio Actually Usable in Winter

Heat that actually hits you
Most heaters try to warm up the air around you. The problem? The air just floats away. These units work differently. They use short-wave infrared radiation to send heat straight to your skin and your furniture. The second you flip the switch, the filament glows and you feel that warmth immediately. No waiting around for the patio to “warm up.” You just feel it.
Making it “Smart”
Nobody wants to walk across a cold deck to turn a manual dial. That’s why we make these play nice with things like Zigbee or Matter. Basically, we swap the old-school knob for a heavy-duty relay or dimmer. You hook it up to your smart home hub, and suddenly you’re controlling the temperature with your voice or a quick tap on your phone. And here’s the best part: you can add a temperature sensor. You can set it so that the moment your patio dips below 10°C, the heaters kick in on their own. You just walk outside and it’s already cozy.
A quick heads-up on the electrics
Here is the catch. These lamps pull a lot of power. If you’re putting in a row of four 2000W heaters, you’re pulling 8kW. That’s a massive load. If you use thin wires or cheap breakers, you’re asking for trouble—voltage drops, overheating terminals, or just tripping the breaker every time the system turns on. Do yourself a favor: run dedicated circuits for these. It’s the only way to make sure everything runs smooth and stays safe.
